Minnesota Youth Program
Due to its success in assisting at risk youth engaged in educational activities 70% of youth enrolled in MYP received academic credit for work experience. All schools in this seven county area refer the most at risk youth to the employment and training programs.
One teen parent, attending high school, worked at a local cafe this summer learning how to cook meals from scratch. She was also involved with planning menus, serving customers and realized how organized you need to be to handle the flow of a business. With funds made available through the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) daycare was provided to enable this youth to learn new life and employment skills. In addition, assistance was available for vehicle maintenance and clothing.
